ThumpUp ThumpUp hello everyone.

I had foot operation for bunion & hammer toes two days ago.
Feeling okay, first two days, bed rest, foot elevated, which has been lovely.

Dressing gets changed in two weeks, rods out in 4 weeks, signed off sick frm. Surgeon for 6 weeks.

I think the other foot gets done about 10 months time ish.

I don't want to go into details, had local injections in foot, awake throughout the surgery, was able to take my ipod in with me. They put a screen up. Lovely caring hospital staff from day admissions, to operation, to after surgery team to the discharge nurses.

They don't give walking sticks or any aids, used my stick from timpson the cobbler.
I have a protected shoe when up and about, foot wrapped up snuggly.
Can get up to visit the bathroom with little help from my husband today.

So glad to be the other side and not the waiting!

Hospital that worked wonders and the lovely people from Great Western Hospital, Swindon

Only day two, keep you posted!
Jane

Glad to hear that all went successfully, it must be a relief to have it over with. Hope you will soon be out and about again and that all continues to go well.

Pleased to hear that the op went well. I've been reading your posts leading upto the op so it's good to know that the outcome so far is good. Enjoy your increasing mobility.

Smile hello everyone.
Week after op, haven't ventured downstairs yet, wobbled with my sticks to the landling (I can have 15 mins an hour on foot). My hubby says he will help me down later! I've got rods underneath and seems in between 3 toes. I have a velcro shoe, hurts - I guess its all knitting together! How on earth did I get upstairs after op? Must of been angels helpin!! The foot was numb from injections I guess. I asked to be carried down, the answer was no! I wonder if I can find enough bend on my knees - that's the adv of him who been making my meals. I said I have ra!! I'm not like u. I love chilling in my room, but I feel that I to be positive, or too dam independant - I do let my husband help me more. I worry, if I manage to go downstairs if I can't make it back up - we don't have loo downstairs. I did a sainsbugs home delivery order to "do my bit" - had £10 off home delivery if a new customer spending over £50.....in went washing up liquid on offer in the basket, washing tablets (I treat my hubby well) he got rabbit food cerial as well. My daughter got some mini biscuits in little packs as treat. Me, yummy jaffa cakes on offer!! The last time I bought them, put the away for ages, and they were out of date by xmas last year! Ohh I hope sainsbugs staff remember the jaffas - normal and not mini size!
Just fancy a naughty treat....I do eat fruit and veg as well.going back to going downstairs - did think of a firemans lift!!
To be honest I am happy in my bedroom, just want to see my doggies! I got two cavaliers, a naughty one that eats all sorts in the garden, and one still in season.

I did something disgusting yesterday, googled post op feet......don't anyone do that, good job I was led on the bed!

Do any of you have any animals?
What naughty treats do you have?
Enough of my ramblings

Huh I decided to put my post under surgery....could of gone under medication/talk about ra things....I shall explain!

Had my foot op three weeks and two days ago, struggling the past few nites, waking up stiff and sore in various joints. My foot is fine, just tender as expected.

I have been thinking about my well being and some pain relief, at the same time balancing why I came off methtrx 2 years ago - to have a baby (sadly not happened).

I decided to ring my ra helpline today for a chat, left my details and one of the team called me back later in the day for a chat. I said I know I cannot have a steriod injection whilst toes are healing and rods in toes, can I go on methtrix again. I can't because it will hinder the healing process (I know it takes 3-4 months to work).

All I can have is the usual pain killers I have.

I have no problems in waiting another three weeks for pins to come out for steriod injection, I felt that I had to share my few nites of playing devils advocate with myself in making a decision about asking for help.

Feel better for chatting to ra nurse, than carrying on in silence.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Just thought I would say hello and introduce myself. My name is Becky and I live in Shrivenham (near Swindon)

Are you under the rheumatology team at GWH? I see Dr Williamson there. Dr Williamson and her team very supportive when I was trying to conceive my son. I had 2 miscarriages and was finding it hard to conceive so Dr Williamson suggested I had a blood test to check if I had sticky blood (sorry can't remember the technical term). It came back just positive so I started taking low dose aspirin and conceived the next month and carried to full term. Apparently it is quite common to get this with RA. Have you had blood tests for this done? If not please ask about it.

Hope your feet continue to heal well.

Becky

Smile Hi Becky

Thanks for replying!
I'm under gwh team, not that doctor.

Not had blood test for sticky blood, I shall ask them.
They don't want to see me until my pins are out.

When things are good, its like I feel normal! If you understand.
Just feel stiff (aaaaaahhhhh).

Haven't been out, can't get foot wet, also feel shattered.
Enjoying time out of rat race.

Nice to hear from someone local!

Jane
